The Medic: Vertical Rescue
Many emergency first aid skills can be forgotten if you don’t use them on a regular basis. In the panic of an emergency, it is easy to forget the techniques and when you should use a certain method to help someone who is injured.
This is a 4-hour hands on workshop where we will discuss and practice vertical rescue skills and techniques. Would you know what to do if you found an injured hiker off a trail with no higher care options? What steps could you take to maintain safety for yourself and others in a post disaster scenario? We will spend time discussing how to become familiar with the gear and basics of vertical rescue before practicing introduction techniques in a controlled environment.
Learning many rescue techniques can help you become an asset to a medic team or community, in a post-disaster situation or where someone’s life is in danger with no higher care options available.
We will cover:
Rescue and climbing knots
Vertical rescue concepts
How to work with minimal gear
Safety and precautions
An introduction to rapelling
